History from the Jura massif
Watchmaking enthusiast Marc Gauthier created Pinet Montrivel in homage to his Jura roots with the elegance, humour and simplicity of the mountaineer.
The name of the brand is also a nod to Jura traditions since it refers to a small mountain located next to his grandparents’ farm.
After studying at the watchmaking high school in Morteau, he worked for 10 years in Swiss watchmaking, first as a technical designer and then as a project manager for a prestigious brand.
Over time, driven by the desire to regain his creativity, he decided to regain his freedom. Then he spent two years developing his project and finalizing his universe.
Marc Gauthier puts all his skills in motion to revive the watchmaking activity from the design to the assembly of mechanical watches in the heart of the Franco-Swiss Jura arc, whose know-how is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In 2020 Pinet Montrivel comes out of its cocoon and spreads its wings by unveiling its first collection of watches disconnected or rather reconnected to our values: authenticity, nature, the freedom of the great outdoors, lightness and modernity. The incredible launch of the first Levanto collection through crowdfunding on the Ulule platform in June 2020 will mark the beginning of the Pinet Montrivel story.
Watchmaking know-how
Faced with the massive arrival of connected watches and quartz watches, Pinet Montrivel has chosen traditional watchmaking, beautiful mechanics where the watchmaker will assemble and adjust the watch in his artisan workshop.
We therefore use a mechanical movement, self-winding which means that it is the movement of the wrist that will recharge the watch. It is visible thanks to a transparent background.
It is in Morteau in the heart of the Jura Massif that Pinet Montrivel automatic watches are assembled by watchmakers trained in the same city with a long watchmaking tradition.
